I once read mark twian quote that states "Clothes make the man. Naked people have little or no influence on society." Aptly put I thought..the reality of the matter is people judge you on how you wear your clothes. Your personality matters, without a doubt but the first impression people make of you when you walk into the room is what you wear!
It was on that basis that I try to get my children to dress well. My daughter,in her pre teen angsty state professed loudly the other day that she simply would not wear dresses!! Her reason is: It's so uncomfortable compared to the shorts and t-shirt that she is used to wearing at home. I don't deny that but I do wish that she would someday pick up that pretty dress that have been left hanging in the cupboard. Perhaps some day she will.
